The Eponymous show features the work of six artists in the Post-Baccalaureate program at SFAI. Over the course of the last school year each artist has grown and this show represents the culmination of that experience. Eponymous refers to each artist’s individuality, however no one lives in a vacuum and the reality that the artists’ work has been influenced by one another will be evident. Mengyu’s work speaks about isolation and Yuanyuan’s speaks about communities. Ashveta is pushing the boundaries of photography by making it a more interactive art form. Ben Cornish works at breaking down the aspects of reason into a complex visual subject. Joseph’s work involves explorations of consciousness. Ni Pan’s work is focused on developing an understanding of time and examining a nostalgic view of the past through antiques. Though each of the artists reveals something different through their work they are united by a drive to explore what it means to be human. Eponymous is a way for each artist to express their individuality while understanding their relationship to one another.
